Father’s day

I decided this morning that it would be great if I could ask my daughter, “What is best in life?” and she knew to answer, “To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women,” like in Conan the Barbarian.

As it turns out, she’s not into it at all, especially once she learned what “lamentation of their women” meant. Like, so, so not into it. I guess I’ll have to settle for a beautiful, loving family and my cool new Father’s Day bicycle helmet. Which I’m fine with.

Sometimes the key to appreciating what you have is letting go of what you’ve always wanted since this morning.
