The Idaho Locusts someone planted behind this house ages ago went from completely bare to covered with leaves about a week ago over a day or two. Then the blossoms start, they're great. Too bad they don't last longer. (They smell a lot like jasmine.) Beetle love. These guys, "stink beetles" or pinacate beetles, are everywhere this time of year. They're harmless and they stick their butts in the air if you get too close.
"Sunset." Also, garbage night. It's a weird shot if you don't know what you're looking at, but that strip of yellow is the end of the sunset and the layer above it is that forest fire smoke we've had lately. (I think the lights are Los Alamos or White Rock.)

The night before, that layer of smoke was on the ground, it made a big difference to have it lifted over us a bit... I've got to lock my shutter to get a sharper picture, but the weird orange moon was weird and orange.

Description: It's been a weird spring; dust storms, smokey nights from forest fires 300 miles away, barren trees that bloom and blossom practically overnight. Whatever else you might say about this region's weather and climate, there's always something interesting going on.
