It's a battle to get her to dress warmly, but it wasn't necessary over the weekend at least... Sydney and her friend Tyra The girls love climbing rocks, and as long as there's not a big dropoff we let them do whatever they want.
Sydney wanted to take our photo; this one was in focus and sort of level. Finally, photographic evidence that I'm aging a lot quicker than I think. Sydney up on one of our walls. It's one of our spots for popsicles in the summer.
That brown dog is Annie, we watched her over the weekend. My daughter's in there somwhere, too. We hiked up to one of the vistas, this is close to 7200 feet. Pretty high, but when you start hiking at 6900 or 7000 feet, it's a pretty manageable walk. Another of the many weird trees in the hiking area. There have been fires and droughts, but it's always weird to find one of these survivors that grew out of a tiny crack in a rock only to succumb to a dry summer or something...
Picnic on a rock... That's looking north. Our house would be a little west of here and about 10 miles away. (There's a couple little foothills that block us from seeing it if I'd looked that way.) We also overlook the rail line that stops in Lamy, and the hills have all sorts of weird mineral content that makes them yellow and red and white. And we're also overlooking Galisteo Creek, which becomes Galisteo River for about 5 days a year...

Description: Did a lot of playing outdoors this weekend, we had a dog guest and spent some time outside. I also took my daughter's friend and grandparents on a hike. The next morning the ground was dusted with snow, sure changes quick.
