There are some minerals in the hills that show as red strata and yellow strata. A lot of the rocks we find are deep red, bright green, or quartz, it's pretty fun. I'm more comfortable with the look of the polarizer and how to apply it in ways I like. Clowning with the stick. This elevation is weird, we're "up in the clouds" so the shadows of clouds on the ground are often pretty well defined.
I let her use my camera sometimes. Obligatory dead tree shot. We bought cheap hiking sticks today, and she messed with them the whole trip.
A little bleak in a way, but the juniper and pine smelled great, and we saw little hints of spring. The lower part of this area has some great plants that attract hummingbirds later in the year, it's even green. Still pretty dry and wintery for now. The climb went up something like 300 feet overall, not too bad, but we feel it.
On the way back down.

Description: Took The Girl on a fairly challenging hike. The weather's been all over the place, but it was pleasant today, no snow like yesterday. I love hiking in this area, a lot of variety in a small space.
