Description: This time of year, the cholla cactii (people in some places call them jumping cactus) in my area bloom. Their flowers are bright pink or magenta, and they're pretty dramatic. But they tend to get pretty ragged pretty quickly - they remain beautiful, but they don't always make for beautiful photos. I'm figuring out that one of my favorite views of them is when they've just opened. The monsoons seem to have started and after one stops I try to run outside to grab a couple of photos while some of the flowers still have rain on them. The smallest flowers don't really stay damp long, but I'm finally getting some nice photos of some of the larger ones.
