We only did 48 and that was amazing, with the group we had we would have been there until 7:00 if we'd had another 10. The shearer and his little team were great, I thought they might be the same people you worked with?

Thanks, Carol! I'm in one of those modes where there'll be plenty more for a while, could be a couple weeks, could be several months. As long as it's fun or I need a certain kind of outlet, I can be pretty productive. I'll probably even do something on Kakáwa at some point, I've been trying to formulate what's interesting about it to me in a way that makes it documenting, but that one's all your fault.

And this is just my most recent entry, this blog actually has close to 70 scattershot pieces of varying length, quality, and interest if I look back. There's a gap for a couple of years when I put it on the back burner for a bunch of reasons. (They're not secret reasons, just ones I probably won't post here.)

I'll probably mention it sporadically on Facebook too...

That's a serendipitous first post for you to stumble upon; it's a timely reminder of a) just how cool Keith Golden really is, and b) for someone with so many dogs around, I don't write about them very often...

Another one that's been on my mind: When you think you're simplifying something, you can almost always take it further.

Like this year, I replaced my old pellet stove because I figured it would simplify things. The old one would stop in the middle of the night, and it would make terrible screeching noises that I'd have to get up and WD40. The new one's basically great so far, a couple of hiccups, but simplifying your life by replacing an old fussy machine with a new fussy machine isn't the farthest you could take it. I mean, I could remove everything from my bedroom, that would be simplest, but how about a woodstove, for example? That's a couple notches simpler without giving up heat. I got rid of my old Ford because it was starting to have little issues, nothing major, but just older car stuff. I thought that by getting a new pickup from Dodge, we'd have a second vehicle that would be handy and since it was new, it wouldn't have older car issues. To really simplify would be to totally eliminate the second vehicle. And, with the hindsight of knowing how terrible the Dodge has been, it would be simpler to keep a decent older car running than deal with constant warranty issues on a new car. So I'm going to keep working on watching my motivations...

Looks like part of your comment may have been chopped off, I'd love to know what was at the beginning. Timing stuff so it's all ready at the same time is a whole other thing for me. It's probably not that impressive to talk about - "What did you do last weekend?" "Oh, I climbed K2. How about you?" "Me? I timed 2 dishes so they were done at the same time." - but it's secretly pretty pleasing when it works out....
